Strategy Consulting Initiative

The Strategy Consulting Initiative (SCI) is a unique opportunity for Undergrad, ECM and MBA students to provide consulting services to local businesses. Teams consisting of five members will be assigned to a company to analyze their business issues and make recommendations. Students will be mentored and trained by an industry professional as they prepare a final proposal for the business. This program will benefit students who are interested in the consulting industry and are looking to gain valuable ‘real-world’ experience.

SCI program will provide two key coaching opportunities for students.

(1) SCI Launch: Consulting Workshop
This mandatory event will provide each SCI member with a coaching workshop lead by an industry professional. Topics which will be covered include:

  • Structuring an approach to the problem
  • Gathering and synthesizing data
  • Working with the client
  • Choosing recommendations & making client presentations

(2) Team Coaching
As an additional resource, each team will be provided with a specific number of hours with an industry professional. During this time team members can ask questions to support their efforts in analyzing the necessary data, formalizing recommendations, and preparing a proposal for their client.
