Careers In Consulting

The Careers in Consulting information session will provide students with a “day in the life” perspective of the consulting industry. Panelists from top firms will lead a comprehensive discussion of the skills, attitude and fit required to excel in the world of consulting.

“Consulting” is a term that includes virtually any form of advice-giving in a business setting. Management consulting (often called strategy consulting) firms offer advisory services in seven primary categories: general business (or pure) strategy, operations strategy, marketing strategy, information technology strategy, E-consulting, financial strategy, and human resources strategy. Specifically, management consulting firms specialize in providing advice about strategic and core operational issues (ex: finding new channels for selling products or reducing the costs involved in producing a product), and advise in areas such as computers, HR, corporate communications, mobile communications, health care, financial services, real estate, e-commerce, and some other specialized field. Large management consulting firms usually cover all those areas, although individual consultants within the firm tend to specialize in one specific area.

Speakers:

  • Andrew Pau, Deloitte Consulting – Senior Consultant Vancouver
  • Andrew Kim, Accenture- Senior Consultant Vancouver
  • Hart Moritz, KPMG- Senior Consultant Vancouver

Location:

  • SWING 122 – West Mall Swing Space, 2175 West Mall

Date & Time:

  • October 21st, 2011 – 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
