Competitions

As a way of building talent and discovering the best students that UBC has to offer, our case competitions offer opportunities for both students and firms. Our two competitions which include, our signature West Coast Case Competition, and our newly introduced Pacific Rim Case Competition, offer a way for students to exhibit the hard work that they have put into their classroom studies, coupled with their personal presentation skills. These competitions will be designed to simulate a challenging client problem, and will present real life business situations that tie multiple disciplines together. This year’s competitions will be attracting competitors from the top schools across not only North America but also the entire Pacific region and Europe. A detailed description of each competition follows:

West Coast Case Competition – February 2012

  • This annual consulting case competition is the club’s premier event and is planned in partnership with the Case Competition Club. This event provides student teams the opportunity to dissect a business consulting case and compete against one another by presenting their insights and findings to industry professionals. This year’s event will allow all participants to tryout, and then compete in the final event, which features a junior competition for first and second year students, and a highly competitive senior competition for upper-year students. In addition, all competitors trying out are welcome to join the final event for a gala dinner, guest speakers, and to watch the final presentations. If interested, please contact Jacob (Vice President External) to relay more information.

Pacific Rim Case Competition – March 2013

  • An international case competition to be launched at UBC, where 12 top business schools will compete in Vancouver to solve complex business issues. The details of the competition are still being finalized.
